In an excellent alliance of new and old instruments, this first programme by Entr’acte introduces a fascinating exchange of music from eastern Europe and Britain.
Featuring solo saxophone and strinq quartet, the programme includes a range of British music from Henry Purcell’s Fantasia Upon One Note to Michael Nyman’s Shaping the Curve and music by Gavin Bryars and Charlie Barber.
From eastern Europe the programme features Béla Bartók popular Rumanian Dances, the jazz-inflected Guernica by Czech composer Alexej Fried, as well as music by the Hungarian minimalist Láslo Sáry.
