Ekstasis (1995)

Music of the devotional and sensual celebrated in a concert for the imagination. The world premiere of Allah Hoo, and intoxitcating cocktail of dub, Bhangra and scratch specially commissioned from young composer Barnaby Oliver as well as two works by Charlie Barber – Khyal, a reinvention of classical Hindustani music, and Ex Ipsum Mundum a tribute to Stravinsky.

Also in the programme are works by Arvo Pärt whose reputation has blossomed as a composer of sacred music for a secular age, Gavin Bryars, one of the great originals of English music and Graham Fitkin.
