for solo piano
Duration: c. 4 minutes
Cavatina for solo piano was composed in 2001 and commissioned by TAN Dance, a community dance project based in South Wales.
The title Cavatina – Italian for “little song” – refers to a musical term that originally described a short, simple song of lyrical character. In opera, the cavatina evolved during the mid-18th century into a type of aria distinguished by its graceful melody and expressive simplicity.
