Hebrew text: v’hayah ke’etz shatul al-palgei mayim asher piryo yiten be’ito

Latin text: Et erit tamquam lignum quod plantatum est secus decursus aquarum quod fructum suum dabit in tempore suo.

Translation: And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season.

Background

This choral work was originally written for a production of the silent film Salomé, made in 1923 and starring the Russian actress Nazimova.
